What People Are Saying About Our School?

  • The owner, Miranda, and all the fantastic teachers at the school have created an amazing environment. The students can do what they love, and compete on elite teams if they choose to, without it being a competitive environment with a lot of pressure, which is why I chose the school. My daughter has gone there for ten years and adores everyone there.

  • My son has been going here for many years and absolutely loving learning different varieties of dance, especially hip hop. He has begun dance competitions and the teachers and fellow dancers are all great.

  • My 7-year-old recently attended a Taylor Swift inspired summer camp with PAS and she loved it! The instructors were engaging and facilitated a full day of fun activities for the kids. It can be a struggle to get my daughter excited about full-day camps, but she was keen to attend every day. I also really appreciated the performance the instructors staged for families at end of the last day.

Building Triple Threat Skills In Kids Musical Theatre Classes

Participating in kids musical theatre classes offers a comprehensive education in the performing arts that goes far beyond a standard dance lesson. We combine three major artistic disciplines to help students become well rounded and highly versatile performers.

Finding Confidence In Vocal Performance

Singing in front of other people can be intimidating for anyone, especially a young child just discovering their vocal range. We focus on basic breathing techniques and vocal warm ups that protect their vocal cords while slowly building their volume.

As they learn to sing group numbers and fun solos, that initial fear quickly transforms into genuine excitement. They realize that making a mistake is just part of the learning process, which gives them the bravery to project their voices loud and clear.

Bringing Characters To Life On Stage

Acting requires empathy and a deep understanding of how different people express their emotions in various situations. Students engage in fun improvisation games that encourage them to think quickly and react naturally to their scene partners.

By pretending to be someone else, they actually learn a lot about their own personalities and emotional boundaries. This theatrical exploration helps them communicate more effectively in their daily lives and understand the feelings of those around them.

Comparing Programs: Is A Musical Theatre Class For Kids Right For You?

Parents frequently ask us how a comprehensive musical theatre class for kids compares to enrolling their child in a specialized singing or acting program. Understanding the differences can help you determine the best fit for your young artist’s current interests.

Traditional acting programs usually focus entirely on spoken dialogue, monologue memorization, and dramatic scene study without any musical elements. Choir or vocal lessons concentrate heavily on pitch, harmony, and reading sheet music while standing relatively still.

In contrast, Broadway style training requires the student to integrate all these skills simultaneously while performing choreographed movements. It is the ultimate multitasking challenge that keeps energetic children fully engaged from start to finish.

Core Element Musical Theatre Traditional Choir Acting Classes
Primary Focus Singing, dancing, and acting combined Vocal harmony and group singing Spoken dialogue and character study
Physical Movement Heavy choreography and stage blocking Minimal movement, mostly standing Natural stage blocking and gestures
Performance Style Highly expressive and Broadway style Classical, acoustic, and blended Dramatic, comedic, and realistic

What To Expect From Our Musical Theatre Kids Classes

Walking into one of our musical theatre kids classes feels like stepping directly into a miniature Broadway rehearsal room. The energy is always high, and the room is filled with the sound of kids laughing, singing, and practicing their scripts.

We structure each session to include a dedicated physical warm up, vocal exercises, and scene blocking so every aspect of performance is covered. The students learn how to read a script, hit their stage marks, and transition smoothly between speaking and breaking into a song.

For attire, we highly recommend comfortable clothing that allows for full ranges of movement alongside soft jazz shoes or flexible sneakers. They will be moving around the stage constantly, so wearing stretchy pants and a breathable shirt will help them stay comfortable during intense rehearsals.
